Install Whirl from Gorgias
The Gorgias installation sends your account subdomain to Whirl, so you do not need to copy API keys or configure webhooks manually.
- 1
Open Whirl in Gorgias
In Gorgias, go to Settings → App Store, find Whirl, and select Install. During app review, use the Preview action in the Gorgias Developer Portal.
- 2
Sign in to Whirl
Gorgias redirects you to Whirl. Sign in or create an account, then make sure the organization you want to connect is selected. Whirl automatically detects the Gorgias account that started the installation.
- 3
Approve access in Gorgias
Whirl sends you back to Gorgias's secure OAuth consent screen. Review the requested permissions and approve the connection.
- 4
Confirm the connection
After authorization, you return to Whirl's Gorgias settings page. A connected status and your
.gorgias.comsubdomain confirm that setup is complete.
Starting from Whirl instead?
Open Settings → Integrations → Gorgias, enter the part of your Gorgias URL before .gorgias.com, and select Connect Gorgias. The remaining OAuth steps are the same.
Configure what your agent handles
Connecting the account makes Gorgias available to Whirl. Each agent can then have its own routing and approval settings.
- 1Open the agent you want to configure.
- 2Open Integrations and choose Gorgias.
- 3Enable new-ticket or new-customer-message events.
- 4Optionally filter by priority, status, or words.
- 5Choose the ingestion cadence and quiet-hours behavior.
- 6Review the approval settings for ticket actions.
Permissions and security
Whirl uses OAuth, so your Gorgias password is never shared. Authorization is scoped to ticket research, approved ticket actions, and event delivery.
- Read your Gorgias account, users, customers, tickets, tags, and custom fields
- Create ticket replies and internal notes, update tickets, and manage ticket tags after approval
- Create and maintain Whirl-managed HTTP integrations for ticket event delivery
- Maintain the connection using a refresh token until you disconnect
OAuth tokens are encrypted at rest. Whirl does not use connected customer content to train generalized AI models. See our Privacy Policy and Data Processing Addendum.
Disconnect or uninstall
In Whirl, open Settings → Integrations → Gorgias and select Disconnect. Whirl removes its managed Gorgias event integrations, deletes the stored connection, and revokes the refresh token where supported. You can also remove Whirl from the Gorgias App Store settings.
Troubleshooting
Most connection issues come down to permissions, routing filters, or the wrong organization.
The consent screen reports missing access
Sign in to Gorgias with a user allowed to approve apps and access the tickets and customers Whirl should handle, then reconnect.
The account connected, but no tickets arrive
Open the relevant Whirl agent's Gorgias configuration and enable at least one inbound event. Also check any priority, status, and word filters.
The wrong Whirl organization was connected
Disconnect Gorgias, select the intended Whirl organization, and run the installation again.
Still need help?
Include your Whirl organization name and Gorgias subdomain. Do not send passwords, OAuth tokens, or API keys.
Ready when you are
Connect Gorgias in a few minutes
Install from the Gorgias App Store or start from Whirl. Either path ends in the same secure OAuth connection.
